What to Expect from WMBH In Person and Virtual Intensive Outpatient Services

While topics vary and rotate through the duration of the treatment, clients receive cognitive behavioral therapy that focuses on learning how to manage behavior and emotion.

Other treatment approaches include:

  • Offered three nights a week: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30 – 5:30 pm.

  • Program participation usually lasts 8 to 12 weeks, depending on insurance coverage.

  • Discussions of 12-step concepts and codependency recovery.

  • Education about coping methods for depression, anxiety, trauma, and PTSD.

  • Identifying triggers and managing impulsivity, along with exploring the costs and consequences of self-defeating behaviors.

Engaging in IOP gives participants greater long-term outcomes by preparing them to manage their own mental health and substance use disorders. In addition to teaching clients life skills like budgeting and community resource identification, they also learn coping mechanisms such as yoga, meditation, and recreation therapy.

Assessment and Evaluation: On acceptance to our IOP, each client is provided with a weekly counselor and client liaison to guide them through the program. You will check in with the liaison at the beginning of the program and meet again a few times prior to discharge, in order to make sure the best treatment plan is in place.

  • Program Flexibility: IOPs offer more flexibility compared to inpatient programs, allowing individuals to continue with their daily routines, such as work, school, or family responsibilities, while still receiving intensive treatment. Participants in our intensive outpatient program for substance abuse are involved in a minimum of 15 hours of recovery programs initially. Evening groups are available.

  • Program Compliance: Random drug testing is also part of the IOP process.

  • Individual Therapy: In addition to group sessions, each client have individual therapy sessions with a licensed counselor to address their specific needs, set goals, and work on personalized treatment plans.
