WM Behavioral Health developed the New Roots Project to create additional opportunities for juveniles who struggle to find stability and who sometimes turn to unhealthy behaviors to “fit in.” The NRP pairs each young person with a licensed therapist and a dedicated youth counselor to identify and address those behaviors. The youth counselor serves as a visible beacon of hope and a positive role model within the community. Working together, the youth counselor and therapist collaborate with the juvenile to identify events, activities, and meaningful opportunities that promote healthier choices and support long-term success.

Is NRP the right program?

NRP may be helpful when a child or teen needs a different kind of support than regular outpatient counseling can provide.

  • Your child is between ages 10–17.

  • Your child has Apple Health / Medicaid, or you need help confirming coverage.

  • Behavioral health needs are affecting home, school, community, or safety.

  • Your family can take part in regular meetings and services with the care team.

NRP is not normal counseling

NRP is support for families who need more than a weekly therapy appointment.

NRP may help when

  • Your child's needs feel hard to manage alone

  • Support is needed in more than one setting

  • Weekly counseling has not been enough

  • Your family needs a team helping with one plan
